In brief: SafeSocial classifies supported Instagram images and sampled video frames on your device. SafeSocial does not send those images, videos, or classification results to a SafeSocial-operated server.
Data and processing
On-device filtering
The app stores filter settings, including selected categories and sensitivity, locally on your device. Supported media is evaluated on the device to decide whether it should be visually obscured. SafeSocial does not operate an analytics, advertising, or content-classification backend.
Instagram web content
SafeSocial displays Instagram's web experience. Information you enter into Instagram—including login details, account information, messages, searches, posts, photos, and videos—is transmitted directly to Instagram/Meta and is handled under Meta's own terms and privacy policy. Instagram may also process network and device information such as an IP address, cookies, identifiers, and approximate location. SafeSocial is not affiliated with or endorsed by Instagram or Meta.
Information retained on the device
Instagram cookies and web cache may remain in the app's protected local storage so you can stay signed in. SafeSocial filter preferences also remain locally until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
Security and retention
Connections to Instagram use encrypted HTTPS transport. SafeSocial retains no copy of Instagram account data on a SafeSocial-operated server. Instagram/Meta controls retention of information in your Instagram account.
Delete your account and associated data
SafeSocial does not create a separate SafeSocial account. The account used in the app is your Instagram account. To request permanent deletion:
- Open Instagram in SafeSocial, the Instagram app, or at instagram.com and sign in.
- Open Accounts Center, then choose Personal details.
- Choose Account ownership and control, then Deactivation or deletion.
- Select the Instagram account, choose Delete account, and follow Instagram's confirmation steps.
You can also start from Instagram's account deletion help page. Meta determines the deletion window and may retain limited information where required for security, legal compliance, or backup integrity. SafeSocial cannot delete information held by Instagram/Meta on your behalf.
To remove data kept only by SafeSocial on this device, use Android Settings → Apps → SafeSocial → Storage → Clear data, or uninstall SafeSocial. This removes SafeSocial settings plus the local Instagram cookies and web cache stored by the app.
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → General → iPhone Storage or iPad Storage → SafeSocial → Delete App. Choose Delete App, not Offload App: offloading keeps the app's documents and data. See Apple's storage instructions. Deleting SafeSocial does not delete your Instagram account or information held by Meta.
Your choices
- Set filtering to Off at any time.
- Clear the app's local data or uninstall the app.
- Use Instagram's own privacy, download, deactivation, and deletion controls for Instagram account data.
Changes and contact
This policy may be updated when the app's behavior changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. For questions, email esokullu@gmail.com or visit SafeSocial support.
